APEROPIA

On the trace of Ben Penthera
The lost Corinthian Epistle

Here, on the hill slope of the acropolis of Aperopia, I took a rest and painted what follows.

"Not everyone can go to Corinth"
{Lais)
50 x 70 cm
acrylic on canvas

Ancient remains and pottery shards scattered all over this acropolis.
Before its Turkish destruction, this place was the seat of a,  rich in gold,  Byzantine settlement.

Local Gossip

In 2000 it was reported that a shady character from Onanistan, amateur poet and, off the record.  ancient coin dealer had bought a house on the island of Aperopia for the sole purpose of scanning the ground with his magnetic hand-held detector.
In fact he was looking for clues which hopefully would reveal why Pater Methodios before dying pretended that a copy of a lost Epistle to the corinthians written by Paul the apostle,  mentioning the supposedly natural parentage of Yeshua Ben Panthera, Messiah of Israel, had been hidden on the island since time immemorial.
Another source from the monastery of the Prophet Ilias said that the lost Epistle was taken to Mystra then to Corinth by Geoffrey de Villehardouin Prince of Morea.
